Why you should visit Portugal for a luxury escape.

Probably one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal would have to be the Praia Formosa, Santa Maria Island, Azores.

Discovered in 1427 it is famous for it’s crystal clear waters and very suitable conditions for many water sports.

You’ll also get to experience the ruins of a centuries old fortress, built to defend against pirates. The fort of São João Baptista, or simply known as the ‘sand castle’, it is easy to access, but you may find it very hard to leave this beautiful place.

Portugal spoils it’s visitors with endless natural landscapes and viewpoints, and some of the best vantage points to take it all in are as unique as the views themselves.

On the top of the Santa Luzia hill, inspired by Sacré-Coeur in Paris , you’ll discover the Shrine of Santa Luzia, taking in a magnificent view oft the sunset over the River Lima, beautiful beaches and the city of Viana do Castelo.

Climb up the dome and enjoy the view, and then finish the day with one of the perfect wines at the Pousada.
